Chapter 14. | Übermeat

As we know, Overman 3000 was a nine-issue limited series in three sets of three chapters, this to echo the three in the title. Simon Magnus also intended to invoke the numerological significance of number three as completion—for example, in the trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; the Hegelian dialectic of thesis, antithesis, and synthesis; and the tripartite Platonic and Freudian structures of the psyche as morality, identity, and desire—but without the hubris of claiming to have attained the balance and totality of “four,” given four’s ambitious connotation of the symphony with its four movements, of the mandala with its four quadrants, of the four Evangelists (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), and of the four territories in Jung’s map of the soul (self, persona, shadow, and anima-animus). Simon Magnus promised SimonMagnusself to save four for a later work—to earn four. There would, of course, be no later work.
