Chapter 12. | Against Feeling

The next night, when classes were finished, Ash del Greco invited Jacob Morrow to watch her on a coaching call in her dorm. She was at the head of her bed, reclined against the pillows, with just the rainbow string-lights lit above her for illumination, her knees up and her laptop braced on her thighs in front of her as she launched the video call. Jacob Morrow sat cross-legged at the end of the bed, behind the laptop, out of the client’s sight. The kitten faces on the toes of Ash del Greco’s slippers smiled up at him. He watched the video call transpire, reflected in reverse in the lenses of Ash del Greco’s wide glasses.
